Think Week

Bill Gates founded Microsoft, the Gates Foundation, and is worth an estimated 90 BILLION dollars.

Through his business, he dominated and shaped the personal computing revolution, how people access the internet and information.

Through his philanthropy, he has worked to eradicate disease, provide clean water technology, iterate on sustainable energy, and more.

What does he do that you're not?

Isolate himself in the woods for a "Think Week".

Yes, you feel busy. No, you can't possibly get away from your work, business, job, life, etc. But somehow Bill Gates manages to do so; and it's probably not because he's doing less than you.

Facts:
- You are not a billionaire (probably)
- You are not going off  of isolation every year to read and be alone with your thoughts (probably)

I'm not saying that isolating yourself for reading and quiet time every year for 10 years will make you a billionaire, but what you're doing right now isn't working. Is it possible that Bill Gates is onto something?

Why is Think Week so valuable?

1. Focus and Creativity
Removing the distractions and clutter of every day life significantly increases one's ability to focus. A 2012 study showed that people who disconnected and hiked demonstrated a 50% increase in their ability to solve problems. Einstein also found that time away from problems often led to creative solutions.

2. New Environment, New Ideas
Studies show that changing physical locations stimulates the mind to increase retention, productivity, and creativity. For example, students who review vocabulary words in 2 locations retain significantly more information than students who study in 1 location. Just thinking about the same problems in a different place can inspire different solutions.

The busier you get, the more you may feel like you can't take the time for a Think Week. It may be counterintuitive, but the busier you are, the more you may NEED to take a Think Week.

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Now change your environment,
then when you have a new idea share it on Daily Idea.
